Cambodian Bells for Sale
In 1975 the Khmer Rouge seized power in the south east Asian nation of Cambodia. In their four year reign, they managed to destroy infrastructure, agricultural base and spirit of the Cambodian people as well as murder over one million Cambodians in the process Today the scars of this rule are found in land mines (active and inactive) bullet casings, cut electrical wires and other metals. The Cambodians melt these scraps of war and turn them into bells that they decorate the harnesses of their farm animals. For the donation of a dollar or more you may take home a bell with a card explaining how they were made. Every dollar donated will go to relief efforts in Cambodia and nations facing the same challenges as well as hunger relief in our own community. The Cambodian bells are available at the Ben Franklin as well as Harbor House Christian Store.
